Easter 2011

I’m having to write four art analysis papers by tomorrow morning. In other words: even though Easter this year was wonderful and my parents are still here in Maastricht and I may even go to Brussels with them tomorrow, I am already back in Full Uni Mode so I’ll have to hurry through this a bit.

This year’s Easter weekend at home in Germany was the best in a long while. Everyone was in a good mood, the weather was perfect, and my plans worked out great! I met with my best friend at a local pub for delicious pizza and beer the night I arrived, and we talked for over three hours. Good Friday was spent at home with the family, baking cake and BBQing. Saturday, we got up early to meet the extended family for a nice little Easter brunch. I got to chat with my aunt and uncle who had just returned from Malaysia (vacation) and my cousin who had just returned from China (business), which I loved because, duh, I LIKE TRAVEL. Heh. That same afternoon, I met with four girls I hadn’t seen since our high school graduation in 2008. We went to an Italian ice cream place in my tiny home town and didn’t leave until 8pm. This, too, I have to say, was a brilliant idea and I’m glad I decided to make it happen.

On to Sunday. One of the nicest days of the year. So warm and sunny, a light breeze. I slept in, we had our traditional Easter breakfast at home, and then I promptly went to take a nap in the sun in my parents’ backyard! Is there anything more luxurious than to get to just lay in the sun and sleep? I think not. My brother and I made a few delicious cold drinks with whatever fruit we had lying around the house to enjoy outside. In the evening, we picked up the grandmothers and took them out to a nice restaurant for dinner.

If there’s a theme of this past weekend, it most certainly is Family, Friends And Food, isn’t it? Also, it made me look forward to summer again; the drinks, the foods, the warm nights, the orange sun, the birds in the early morning, walking barefoot… Anyways! I’ll get back to work now and hopefully finish these papers in time to make it to dinner at the river with the parents.

Happy Easter!
I hope you had a great holiday weekend.
