Pierced
I’ve been posting this on Twitter and Facebook as though it was actually relevant to anybody’s life in any way but I’m still really happy about it so, without further ado:

FINALLY! I’d been thinking about it since before Sweden in 2010! The thought of having someone wound my body in exchange for money didn’t bother me as much as I was worried about how to start up the piercing conversation, especially since I didn’t know how to actually pronounce “tragus” (I still don’t!) – and it’s made more complicated by the language barrier that I face here in the Netherlands every day, anyway.
But Tuesday was so warm and sunny and friendly and perfect and happy. And I walk past two piercing places on my way home every day; this time, I just walked in. (Free Mind Piercing in Maastricht, by the way.) — The guy was super nice and answered all my questions, I signed the papers and paid €30 (includes disinfectant for after-care), I laid down on the table and it was done in thirty seconds!

Surprisingly, it was much less painful and much less frightening than getting any of the five “regular” ear piercings I have in my lobes because piercers obviously don’t use that scary loud gun right next to your ear. It was just – quiet and quick. Heh. And so far, even the healing process is relatively pain-free and easy. I do think I’m actually prone to infections with this type of thing and the guy told me that the healing process could last anywhere from four weeks to nine months – so let’s all pray that I won’t still be talking about infected piercings by the time Christmas rolls around, alright?
I love it even more than I thought I would!

Love it!
I think I’d like to get it done, too, but I am such a chicken.
Let’s see how the next few months go for you, heh.
P.S. I only have one piercing and that’s in my auricle.
